Dani Pedrosa was the first rider to win two MotoGP races this year, but it was Britain's Cal Crutchlow who stole the show in round 4 at Le Mans in France with a storming career best ride to 2nd place after yet another bone crunching crash in practice. And Scott Redding finally took his much expected first Moto2 win after a poor start from the front row saw him battle to the front in difficult conditions to dominate until the red flag came out and the race was declared with two laps remaining.

MONZA MAYHEM

Beautiful and historic Monza Park was filled with the noise of screaming World Superbikes travelling at over 208 mph for round 4 of the series. In a blanket race one finish, Marco Melandri edged over the line from Tom Sykes and Eugene Laverty. But in race 2 controversy saw 3rd finisher Sykes moved to 4th after he crossed a chicane boundary on the last lap and was protested by Sylvain Guintoli's Aprilia team. The penalty was reversed on appeal and meant that the final result was Laverty from Melandri and Sykes. But the real drama was in the World Supersports race. After 3 red flag situations it was moved to later in the day, but was worth the wait. After the much fancied and more powerful Kawasaki throng lost their leader as Kenan Sofuoglu fell at Lesmo 2, it was a dog fight that eventually went to Sam Lowes on a clearly slower Yamaha. Fortune favours the brave and Lowes now leads the world! Next stop, Donington Park in 2 weeks.

5 Year MotoGP Deal

MotoGP will be exclusive in the UK to the new BT Sport channel from 2014. All practice, qualifying and races for the Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP classes are included in the deal. The presentation and commentary team line-up will be released later. Both BBC and Eurosport will continue to share broadcasting rights until the end of the 2013 season. The BT Sport trio of channels will be FREE to BT Broadband customers.

MotoGP of Wales ?

The Circuit of Wales project in South Wales is picking up momentum. The prospect of a MotoGP homologated track in beautiful countryside accessed by fantastic roads is mouthwatering! I visited the site yesterday and it's not hard to see what a fantastic opportunity this project is for Wales and motorsport fans!

Hello everyone
What a weekend for British riders! Saturday night's Czech Speedway Grand Prix saw Tai Woffinden take his first GP win. Then on Sunday in Le Mans, Scott Redding showed his class to take his first career Moto2 GP race win after a poor start. But it was Cal Crutchlow who impressed even the French with a stunning ride to a career best MotoGP result with 2nd place in the premier bike class despite carrying the painful aftermath of yet another practice crash to a very wet grid and seeing off the likes of Jorge Lorenzo, Valentino Rossi, Andrea Dovisioso, not to mention the charging pole sitter Marc Marquez! Outstanding.

The French MotoGP exceeded my expectations in so many ways, check back for my BLOG, Road Trip to LeMans.

The action in France will be a distant memory by the time we get to Donington Park for this weekend's round 5 World Superbike action! But will the weather be kind? Either way it'll be a cracking good weekend, see you there.

Exciting changes are in prospect for UK television viewers as the new BT Sport MotoGP package was announced in London on May 9th. It might not please everyone, but you can be sure of innovation from a company looking to impress. Go for it BT!
